It’s been a tough week or so. Really tough, and brought up some old demons that I have been avoiding for the past, oh, 32 years. Hopefully this is the catalyst I need to make some real, positive changes in my life. I think it’s time.
Other than that, I have been reminded of how resilient people are with life’s punches. People are going through things way bigger than what I am and they persevere and find a way to move on.
If I had stuck to my guns (and my workout and healthy eating routine), I would be kicking butt right now…and probably wearing a smaller pair of pants! It’s so easy to get sidetracked (vacation, vertigo, laziness- really) and then another week slips by, where I could have been improving my running and feeling stronger heading to my 2 half-marathons in October and November.
Beating myself up won’t get me anywhere so instead, I’ll vow to get back on the wagon…starting with a hot yoga class tonight and gym session at 6am tomorrow.
I try so hard sometimes to make new friends, to try to find my next “Trinh”, “Carmen”, “Roxanne”, etc. But then I realize sometimes I am not that great of a friend to the ones I have. I am *horrible* at keeping in touch beyond fb or email. A phone call can mean a lot, and really, takes so little effort. So, it’s my new(ish) goal to continue to keep my existing friendships flourishing and growing, and let the new ones I make along the way happen on their own.
My alarm went off at 5:30am (ahem) and I was at the gym by 6. I did a nice little walk/run treadmill interval and now I sit at work, knowing that I have absolutely NO workout obligations after I get off.
BEST FEELING EVER. Except, I may do a nice little walk up to the Rose Garden.
I am in the midst of planning my new years resolutions (what’s a couple days late) and more than enough have to do with healthy living (fitness+eating right) so hopefully I will be blogging more to keep track of things.
“Are you ready?” Klaus asked finally.
“No,” Sunny answered.
“Me neither,” Violet said, “but if we wait until we’re ready we’ll be waiting for the rest of our lives, Let’s go.”—― Lemony Snicket, The Ersatz Elevator
I just signed up for the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Francisco (half) Marathon and I got a little pep in my step after doing so! As hard as training was for my last half-marathon, I loved how it gave my workouts and runs meaning. It was probably as fit as I’ve been in the past 4+ years and I hope to get back there- even though I know it will mean grueling workouts to do it.
